Although Saint-Hubert Airport was not the primary airport starting from 1941, it played an important role for the Candadian military. It was home to the CFB Saint-Hubert until part of the base was merged into the CFB Montreal, and later on, closed. During the Second World War, it was home to British Commonwealth Air Training Plan No. 13 Service Flying Training School until 1944. The airport also had several Voodoo fighter jets stationed there until the Voodoo was scrapped by the military.
Today, the Saint-Hubert Airport's main purpose is for general aviation. Most aircraft that take off and land at the airport are small planes that are used by private pilots. There are no commercial aircraft services, but there are two flight schools that operate from the airport: Cargair and Air Richelieu. The former Saint Hubert military base is still present, in the form of 438 Tactical Helicopter Squadron. It is a tactical helicopter unit in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
